Our businesses origins date back to 1829, when two skilled woodworkers who were English immigrants established a business in Dayton, Ohio. The business began as a manufacturer of individually carved wooden shoe lasts, developing a novel lathe based method to create lasts more quickly and precisely than anybody else in the industry. Between 1875 and 1897, the business underwent a change. Two new partners were brought on: Edward Canby, who quickly developed an obsession with the game, and John McGregor, an expat from St Andrews, Scotland, who was an avid golfer.
